Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled (COPE)

Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled (COPE)

Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled (COPE) is an approach in which employees receive devices from their employer that are company-owned but can also be used personally. With COPE devices, employees access business resources in a reliable and secure way, while the company retains control over the configuration and security of the devices. Other concepts are BYOD, COBO and COSU.

COPE is often used in areas where control over data and security is required and yet private use is advantageous, such as field work or on-call duty. The possibility of private use generally increases acceptance – employees always have the device with them.

COPE brings flexibility for employees
COPE devices increase the flexibility of employees because they have access to business emails, applications and data. At the same time, they can use the devices for personal purposes, safe in the knowledge that their personal data and activities are separate from business data. In turn, the company ensures that the devices are equipped with the necessary security measures, such as encryption and the ability to remote wipe.
