Cyber resilience
Cyber resilience refers to how resistant a system, network or organization is to cyberattacks. This includes being able to detect and counter threats, recover quickly and maintain business operations. It is a holistic security strategy that aims to minimize the occurrence of cybersecurity incidents and limit damage while maintaining business operations if a cyberattack happens. Cyber resilience combines the concepts and practices of cyber security and business continuity management. The stronger each element is, the higher an organization’s cyber resilience.
Defense and recovery
IT departments are responsible for cybersecurity and cyber resilience strategies and for implementing security measures such as firewalls, antivirus programs, intrusion detection/prevention systems. They also handle mitigation and recovery in the event of a cyberattack. That includes backup and recovery solutions and creation of an effective incident response team to minimize data loss and enable rapid resumption of business processes.
Vulnerability management and employee training
Regular security reviews and audits serve to identify and eliminate vulnerabilities. Employee training to raise awareness of threats and reinforce safe behaviors when dealing with sensitive data and suspicious emails is another important aspect of cyber resilience.
