2023: A Year of Strategic Achievements and Tactical Triumphs
If 2023 were a fruit, it would probably be a grapefruit – refreshing, sweet, but also a little bitter. But we had many more highs than lows. More important, we made some important strategic and tactical advances that put us in a strong position going into 2024.
In every beginning there is magic
Let’s start with the low point: after more than 11 years as a baramundi board member and managing director, our highly esteemed boss and colleague Uwe Beikirch left the company in
April to realize his lifelong dream of founding a consulting firm for start-ups. The moving farewell brought tears but also lots of smiles as baramundians recalled the many good
times and successes we had during his tenure.
Then in October we marked a new beginning by welcoming his successor, Michael Huber. Selected through a rigorous selection process, he fits perfectly into baramundi’s open,
supportive and values-driven corporate culture. His decade of experience as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at an international IT security service provider was the icing on the cake.
New formats – checklists and glossary
Want to stay well informed without having to rack your brain every other sentence over another unfamiliar tech acronym? Then check out the new baramundi glossary. From Android to Zero Trust – you’ll find clear explanations of important IT terms. We keep it current with regular updates
too.
Sometimes you also need a quick refresher or at-a-glance briefing on new or existing IT practices. That’s why we also created the new baramundi checklists. They cover a wide range of topics including update and patch management, MDM, user security awareness training, and many more. It’s a good way to
stay sharp and share knowledge with colleagues.
A Great Place to Work – and a 37-hour work week
baramundians continue to be very satisfied… being baramundians! This year, baramundi achieved high ratings from Great Place to Work and was ranked 12th among the top 100 German
companies with 251–500 employees. kununu also confirmed baramundi’s position as one of the top 3 tech employers in Augsburg.
A big reason for those recognitions is a baramundi culture that emphasizes flexible, self-managing teams. In April, the baramundi management team enhanced that by introducing a
37-hour work week. baramundians now can decide whether they prefer to cut back to 37 hours/week at their current salary or receive a higher salary for working longer hours.
That’s all in the name of providing a positive, productive workplace and stronger work-life balance.
From soccer to canoeing to basketball
This year, after a run of more seven years, we hosted the last of our Focus Tour events for prospective customers at Fußball/soccer stadiums across Germany. Next year,
under the title “Easy Days,” interested prospects will enjoy solutions-oriented presentations at many more locations around the country.
In June, baramundi once again got to cheer on Augsburg’s own champion whitewater paddlers Ricarda Funk and Hannes Aigner during the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup competition
at the world-famous Eiskanal. Both finished in the top 10 in their respective categories despite tough competition. We also expanded our support for area athletes by sponsoring the
men’s Hessing Kangaroos professional basketball team of BG Leitershofen/Stadtbergen this year! That adds to our longtime sponsorship of the Basketball Academy for promising
young athletes in Augsburg.
Expanding product power in the fall
While 2023 Release 1 of the baramundi Management Suite contained important updates, Release 2 in the fall was packed new powerful new capabilities.
Argus Experience added great new features to our portfolio of proactive Digital
Experience Management (DEX) tools. We also introduced the much-anticipated Remote Desk module developed in
cooperation with our new technology partner AnyDesk. Rounding out the roster of R2 innovations were integrated Android Zero-Touch support, new Linux server management tools and even greater
speed and convenience for end users with SSO in the baramundi Kiosk for self-service software installations.
It was a big autumn also at IT conferences. At Spiceworld in Texas, baramundi impressed visitors with our fun Star Wars theme and contests. The local it-sa
cybersecurity show and SPS in Nuremberg resulted in phenomenal success for baramundi and many interesting conversations and insights. The event highs continued at our two
customer events, the big come2gether and b2b2gether, which attracted record numbers of participants.
Platinum from IP-Insider and in the Top 10 of the Forrester Wave
Industry analysts again this year recognized our growth, product innovations and strengths. IP-Insider’s customer survey gave baramundi the top ranking for the third year
in a row. Forrester also included baramundi among the most important UEM providers for the third time in a row – and in the top 10 in 2023.
All in all, it was a year to be proud of. Oh, and there’s one more thing – baramundi has surpassed the 300-employee mark, and our growth is continuing! Accordingly, we are
looking forward to next year with great enthusiasm, determination to build on the knowledge and insights gained this year, and motivation to advance even further in 2024.
We wish you a peaceful holiday season and a happy New Year.
